Skincare, skincare, skincare. Where do we start. DIY skincare is shown all over your socials about how safe and affordable it is compared to your salon bought products. Just because you can find these products in your kitchen cupboard or your bathroom doesn’t mean these products are safe for your face.
- Rubbing alcohol to dry acne
Big No!!! All this will do will strip the skin of its natural protection like its natural oils. Rubbing alcohol is used to remove bacteria it’s not great for treating or drying out your acne
- Adding raw egg to your face mask
Raw eggs on your face can cause infection on open blemishes or on an unhealed scratch. You may also come out with an allergic reaction which is something you don’t want on your face!! Egg whites are ‘known’ to tighten your pores and brighten your skin which is completely false because as soon as you take the egg whites off you will see no difference.
Body care is ranged from exfoliates, body washes, body butters to lip masks. Your skin is your protective cape to keep everything on the inside of you body…in your body.
- Exfoliating your body with baking soda
Just because your baking soda is sat in your cupboard does not mean you need to use it on your skin. Baking soda can effect your pH levels of your skin meaning your skin is prone to more irritation and breakouts.
- Plumping your lips with cinnamon and cayenne
There is no way you should be applying these species to your lips as these will plump your lips by acting as an inflammatory. These means you’re putting it on your lips to get inflammatory swelling. Not a good sign nor idea.
Now for your basic ‘at home’ beauty treatments. Lash lifts and your acrylic nail extensions. Without using the right products both of these treatments at home can cause serious irritation which can lead to burning or even an allergic reaction.
- DIY lash lifts
No no no no! It is stressed that for the lash lift to be done correctly your eyes NEED to be closed. The products in an at home lash lift could put you at risk of infection, potential bald spots, swelling and the worst case can be blindness.
- At home acrylic nails
Doing your own acrylics at home is a very technical and involved process. The process is not simple and you need to know the facts on how to fully understand how the acrylic and gel can be applied without causing any infection. Without any experience or training as you can make the nails to thick, lumpy or uneven.
